19 massive tracks from Circoloco’s closing party at DC-10
The curtain comes down on a vintage season for the Ibiza institution...
Circoloco brought its Ibiza season to an end at DC-10 on Monday 9th June, with a huge closing party that saw 32 DJs spin across 15 hours on its three dancefloors.
Before Circoloco opened the doors for its epic closing party, it was clear 2017 had been a vintage season for the long-running Ibiza institution.
Circo had seen key family members like Apollonia establish themselves as Kings of the White Isle – taking over the main rooms of Ibiza’s biggest clubs – whilst also welcoming a host of newer faces to the close knit group of DJs.
The Monday party has long had a reputation for breaking upcoming artists to a global audience, and this year saw the likes of Rampa, &ME, Molly and Silvie Loto all deliver at the party with aplomb.
It’s no secret that DC-10 is regularly bursting at the seams through the summer season either – and anyone that dares complain they don’t have enough space to dance might as well not bother passing through its doors. But the levels of busyness for the closing party is clear as soon as DJ Mag arrives outside the venue, with the chaotic queue snaking its way round the side of the club, everyone desperate to make their way onto the dancefloor.
Once inside, it’s a case of finding any nook or cranny to rave in, as near to the front as is humanly possible without risking suffocation. So business as usual for any given Monday at Circoloco.
Richy Ahmed plays an early set on DC-10’s glorious Garden, seemingly tailoring his selections with a more chunky less bouncy tech-sound than you might expect from him at Paradise. Luciano follows with a tribal infused rhythmic workout that has the outdoor space bouncing and drowns out the usually familiar sound of planes roaring close overhead.
From here it’s clashes aplenty as Apollonia, Nina Kraviz and the ‘First Lady of Circoloco’, Tania Vulcano, go head-to-head – and all before 10pm.
Word spreads that entry to the venue is cut at 2am, but those inside aren’t too worried, as the dancefloors are heaving for a special b2b from Marcel Dettmann and Ellen Allien and a debut Circoloco appearance from Dystopian boss, Rødhåd, in the Main Room.
If there's any complaint about the party it’s that every selector stays within their comfort zones, with few risks taken. But when the party is known for pushing the world’s best house and techno, then who can fault a DJ for sticking to the age old adage: if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it?
